If you run a social media account, it can be hard to come up with content every day – something most social media sites almost require you do to stay on newsfeeds.

This is why having topics you can make into weekly series (or re-run every so often) is helpful. Below are a few “back pocket” ideas that you can spin into fitting your own business model for those days that you may be blanking.

1) Random Business Facts – Often, people are so immersed in their business that they forget others aren’t as familiar with the little bits of information that may feel like common facts to those who work there. Posting history or facts about the business not only helps potential clients feel more comfortable using it but can also provide some pretty cool opportunities when it comes to producing the content.

2) The Benefits of Whatever Service(s) You Offer – You can use this to promote your business but I like to use it more as an educational topic on the overall reasons to do something. If you offer equine massage, for example, you can make a full series about the benefits of massage on sports horses and roll out each bit of information in a separate post. If you do something like this, I recommend sitting down and making a list that you can work off of when making the content so you know what you’re planning from week to week.

3) Industry Information – If there is new information about your industry, feel free to share it with your audience. One of my clients is more education-based so every week we run a post about random information someone not fully immersed in the equine industry may not know.

Sometimes those posts are about the reasoning behind using different tack and sometimes if there’s an important date that week that relates to the industry (such as every Northern Hemisphere-foaled Thoroughbred officially turning a year older on January 1), that will be the focus. This also provides the benefit of showing your followers that you are educated on the going-ons in your industry.

4) Examples of Your Work – Technically this could also fall under Throwback Thursday but I wouldn’t lock it into that category.

Followers may be familiar with your work but it never hurts to give them actual examples. Posting recent projects or even older ones is a good way to show them what your business is capable of doing. You can talk about your services all day long but examples always go much farther than words.

5) Wisdom Wednesday/Throwback Thursday – Both of these are evergreen topics that never get old. A few different ideas for Wisdom Wednesday would be things you’ve learned that other businesses should pay attention to or stats about your industry.

Throwback Thursday is pretty open ended – if you feel like something that happened in the past is something your followers will be interested in, post it. On my own page, I post a mix of personal and professional throwbacks that relate to Pyrois Media and my own life.
